Jewel thieves in the world today are having a real hard time making a living. The reason for this is that half the stuff that they are stealing is not real. The joke is on them.

People in our society seem to think that by acquiring and wearing all this jewellery makes them special and better than the folks who forgo this silly pastime. Whoever said that diamonds are a ladies best friend? And how do you know that when you buy a diamond that it is real or not? Just because the store printed out a certificate that says it is, how can you be so sure?

Did you know that they have this HPHT process that takes diamonds that do not look very good and transforms them into a nice looking stone? They do this so as to make more money with a stone they couldn’t sell because it did not look like a diamond. Diamonds they say are a rare commodity, but they sure seem to be everywhere. Just ask the slaves in Africa who work the diamond fields and they will tell you that there are plenty of them. And further more they all don’t look that great.

So, if you are so inclined to buy diamonds, be sure and have them analyzed by a respected, knowledgeable expect to be sure you are getting the real thing and not something that was processed by HPHT or is fake just so as to jack up the price. Furthermore, why buy a real diamond in the first place? We live in a world where the fake jewels look just as good as the real ones so who cares? Why flaunt wealth and leave yourself vulnerable to thief and attack and loss of money.

The jewellery business these days is such a racket that it is amazing how many people fall into their traps. How many people do you know thought that they had bought this really nice and expensive diamond for their wedding ring – only to find out at a later time that it was a fake and not worth very much.

They do not regulate jewellery stores, nor are they required to have to produce any real documents that state what you are buying is truly a precious stone or not. Anyone with a computer these days can print up any type of document (even money in some cases) and who is the wiser?

A safe bet is to stick with very nice looking fake jewellery, and save your money for better things. An expensive vacation with fake jewellery would be a much better idea than just walking around with the real stuff just so you can think that you are better than everyone else.
